I’ve been hoping your moping around the street again
I’ve been tripping from sipping the dripping dirty water tap
I’ve been poking a voodoo doll that you do not know I made
For you, of you, let’s see what needles do
such a classic…
Step // Vampire Weekend
Wisdom’s a gift, but you’d trade it for youth
Age is an honor, it’s still not the truth
Jenny, I am in trouble
Can’t get these thoughts out of me
Jenny, I’m seeing double
I know this changes everything
MUSIC > Julian Casablancas
Written and recorded over the past year, Tyranny features Casablancas and Voidz band membersJeramy Gritter and Amir Yaghmai (Salt & Pepper)—guitar, Jeff Kite—keyboards, Jake Bercovici—bass, Alex Carapetis—drums and was produced by Shawn Everett.
Of the album’s title Casablancas says, “Tyranny has come in many forms throughout history. Now, the good of business is put above anything else, as corporations have become the new ruling body. Most decisions seem to be made like ones of a medieval king: whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause (like pop music, for that matter).”

Cage The Elephant - Cigarette Daydreams
I believed that someone would
Take care of me tonight.
Oh and as I’m looking out at you
Can you see that in, in my eyes
On the mend,
Now they could lead me home
saw these goobs tonight, played this one and nostalgia cracked me in the face like a baseball bat
Be excited for this.
I’m not sure I even heard of this band before I saw them yesterday, but their performance was absolutely fantastic! I still really haven’t listened to them, as I really haven’t had any time to yet, but I am definitely going to give them a few spins in the next week. It was just a rad show. Crazy stage presence. Mr. Frontman (I don’t actually know his name) was endlessly entertaining.
Definitely the biggest x-fest surprise for me.
Second biggest? How unimpressed I was with Jack White’s set. It was kinda awkward feeling and…I dunno. Maybe I’ll get into that another time.
